Started on April 2010, all ebay insertion and final value fees will depend on whether you have an ebay store or not.
1.You Have not subscribed to an eBay Store
Auction Format Fees in case you have not subscribed to an ebay store:

-
As you can see in the previous table, there will be NO Insertion Fees for Auction-style listings when you list your item with a start price under $1—up to 100 listings per month.
-
For items from $1- $9.99, you will pay 25 cents insertion fee and so on according to the previous table.
-
One easy Final Value Fee of 9% of the winning bid—and never more than $50—regardless of your start price or final selling price.
Now let us have an example:
Example #1: In this example, I will put in my listing a starting price only. I will not use a buy it now price nor a reserve price. How much my insertion fees will be??. Take a look on the screen shot below

In the shot above, I put the starting price $10.00. If you go back to the fees table in the top of this page, You will find that the insertion fees for this starting price is $0.25. if you are going to list your item without any listing upgrades [like an extra picture], your insertion fees will be $0.25 only.
Example #2: In this example, I will put in my listing a starting price and reserve price. How much my selling on ebay insertion fees will be??. Take a look on the screen shot below; Here i have put the starting price as 49.99 and reserve price as 100.

Fees for this starting price [as in Top Page table] is $0.75. Fees for reserve price [as in above table] is $2.00. Total insertion fees for this listing is 0.75+2=$2.75.
Now you listed your item and paid your insertion fees. If your item is not sold, you don’t pay anything else. If your item is sold, you will pay final value fees. The previous table shows the Final value fee structure:
Look to the table , If for example, your item sells for 100 dollars, you will pay 9% final value fees which in this case will be 9 dollars.
If your item sells for 600 dollars: 9% of 600 dollars is 54 dollars. But since the maximum should be 50 dollars, you will only pay 50. To summarize if the 9% of the final selling price exceeds 50 dollars, you will only pay 50 dollars final value fee.
Fixed Format Fees in case you have not subscribed to an ebay store:
Insertion fees for fixed price listings without subscription to an ebay store is 50 cents.
If your item sells, final value fees will be the same as store subscribers [see later].
2.You Have subscribed to an eBay Store
Auction Format Fees in case you are subscribed to an ebay store

- As you can see in the above table, for all store subscribers pictures up to 12 for your auctions are free.
-
The insertion fees depend on your starting price. For example if your staring price is 99 dollars, your insertion fees will be $1 as shown in the previous page and so on.
-
If your item is not sold, you will pay nothing. If you your items sells you will pay a final value fee. For example, if your item sells for 100 dollars, you will pay 8.75% of the initial $50.00, [$4.375] plus 4.0% of the remaining $50.00 [$4]. A total of 4.375 + 4 = 8.375 [look to the table in the previous page].
Fixed Format Fees in case you are subscribed to an ebay store:

Insertion fees for store subscribers depends on your ebay store subscription [basic, anchor or premium]. If you have a basic store, your insertion fees will be 20 cents. If you have an anchor store, your insertion fees for your fixed listings will be 3 cents.
Note that for all store subscribers, you can add up to 12 pictures for free.
Final value fees depends on which ebay category you are listing your fixed price listing.
Now After having an idea on insertion and final value fees, if your item is sold, your customer is going to pay you using paypal. You have to pay paypal fees. [Note: paypal fees is applied to the total money you will receive from the buyer [selling price and shipping price] while final value fees applies to the selling price only.

The most common rate for beginners is 2.9 % + 0.30 USD. When your monthly sales increase, the 2.9% will decrease. Assume that the total price of your item including shipping is 120 dollars. You pay 0.30 constant rate plus 2.9% of the 120 dollars. Total is 0.30 + 3.48 = 3.78.
